Last night we had another spectacular appearance of the Aurora Borealis - Northern lights! Many skywatchers managed to capture the celestial spectacle from our island!
The severe geomagnetic storm which occured yesterday following the double X-flares on the Sun, coupled with favorable conditions in the magnetic field enabled widespread Auroras which were documented in far south latitudes.
Similar - but not quite as intense - as the great Aurora display of last May, the light show was apparent in long exposure photographs of the sky in Cyprus as well. Exactly 5 months later, we have a repeat of the historic appearance of Northern lights in the Cyprus sky.
